Has Google Enrolled in Harvard Medical School?
If no one does a good enough job, we all have Google to quench our thirst for knowledge. In fact, it is more of a go-to place rather than a last-resort. This is what we do. Googlers—people who work at the tech giant—have a slightly different approach.
The Harvard Visit
Even Googlers get curious. The tech geniuses recently wanted to walk in the shoes of a doctor, and see how life seems from that far end of the tunnel. Who better to ask than the elites of the industry themselves? The curious of the Google went to Harvard to meet healthcare policy experts, surgeons, and researchers etc.
Medicine and Technology
It is fair to say that medicine and technology have been working hand in hand with each other. Ramaswami said in an interview that the reason why the IT company sent its employees to Harvard is because, “There is an explosion of personal health awareness”
The Experience
It was obviously not the simplest tasks to teach IT geeks about the depths of medicine. It didn’t take long for David Roberts to realize this. You need to address more complex questions than the basic ‘Whats’ and ‘Hows’.
The Googling team went on field trips and attended surgery simulation labs to witness first-hand what it feels to be a doctor.
Reason Behind the Visit
The team from Google clearly wanted to go in depth. They wanted to find out the limitations the medical practices. Why? Because they are eager to build technologies that would improve healthcare delivery. Stanley Shaw from the Massachusetts General hospital believes that developers from Google will be the upcoming people to bring further innovations into the healthcare technology application of the modern world.
It is fair to say that HMS and Google joining hands will result in a future far more prolific than what we are experiencing right now.
